Anti-Beacon treats this as telemetry because Copilot is a cloud AI experience that processes user prompts and related context. Microsoft says Copilot uses “prompts and related information” to provide and improve Copilot services, and that conversation data is used to monitor performance, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, provide, and improve Copilot (Microsoft Privacy Statement). Microsoft also documents a Windows policy for turning off Copilot; when enabled, “users won’t be able to use Copilot” (Microsoft Learn: WindowsAI Policy CSP).

Anti-Beacon turns off Windows Copilot to prevent the Windows shell from offering this cloud AI assistant and sending prompts or related interaction data through it.
